Our Precinct is on the ancestral land of the Gadigal and Bidjigal Peoples of the Eora Nation.

We acknowledge the many different traditional countries and language groups of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Peoples that work and visit us here.

We also acknowledge that our partnerships and engagements happen across many different lands.

St Vincent’s Precinct partners collaborate to lift the quality of clinically informed nursing practice

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney collaborates with university partners Australian Catholic University (ACU) and University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA), to enhance learning opportunities and promote excellence in research informed clinical practice.

In 2022, our suite of educational development programs will be expanded to include post-graduate nursing courses in mental health, oncology, emergency and palliative care, with introductory nursing specialty practice courses in interventional cardiology and surgical nursing. The ongoing ACU and SVHNS Clinical School partnership also enhances the development of undergraduate university students by supporting pathways for assistants in nursing to transitional new graduate programs.

Through these tertiary partnerships, SVHNS has also provided COVID-19 training for undergraduate health professionals as part of our workforce pandemic response. In addition, SVHNS are partnering with the ACU and Clinical Excellence Commission to create an alumni of nursing leaders to advance patient safety and quality initiatives across the Precinct.

SVHNS continues to partner with the Nursing Research Institute, ACU, and UNDA to drive nurse-led research focused on improving health care delivery and patient outcomes. In 2021/22 new innovative research projects, funded through Nurse Strategy Reserve funding, include the establishment of an Implementation Science Laboratory, and scale and spread of the ACCELERATE (Assessment and CommuniCation ExcelLEnce foR sAfe paTient outcomEs) program across other NSW LHDs. Plus an
innovative research project to drive quality in delirium care through patient-centred monitoring in palliative care will commence in 2022.

This is an example of intra-precinct education-clinical collaboration.
